The 2008 US Classic served notice to the GYMNASTICS WORLD that the Twistars USA Elite program is strong and able. There could be no mistaking the results!
The US Classic is the final stepping stone to the CHAMPIONSHIPS of THE USA (the highest ranking gymnastics competition in the US) and featured most of the top Junior Elites as well as a few of the up and coming senior elites from around the country. The competition itself was held at Houston’s Reliant Center (home to the Rockets, Texans and Astros) the weekend of May 23-24. It was held in conjunction with the Men’s National Championships as well as Rhythmic and Tumbling nationals.
A pair of four for four performances marked the day for Jordyn Wieber and Kamerin Moore. Both were outstanding throughout the competition and earned 1st and 2nd respectively. AMAZING!
Amazing is an understatement as Jordyn captured each and every event title in route to her gold medal all around performance of 60.35. She was calm, collected and confident throughout showing that she will certainly be a force to consider at the Championships of the USA. Her scores of 15.0 on Vault, 15.0 on bars, 15.4 on Beam and 14.95 showed her consistency and talent across all events. Jordyn is a 2 time USA National Team member with one of the brightest futures this sport has ever seen.
Equally as impressive in her own right was Kamerin Moore. Kami placed 2nd AA with a 57 AA while placing 3rd on Floor (14.65), 4th on Vault and Beam (14.35 and 14.6). This performance basically placed Kamerin on the map as a legitimate contender for a USA National Team spot in 2008. Kami is always a tough competitor and she held true to form in Houston as she rocked routine after routine.
Needless to say anytime a club places 1-2 at an ELITE NATIONAL competition, the coaching staff has to be proud. We couldn’t be any more proud of these 2 wonderful and talented young ladies. It seems apparent that their hard work and dedication is reaping just rewards. GREAT JOB JoJo and Kami!
